Dug and Alcohol Testing

DOT Programs

Our programs range from a la carte to turnkey, customizing each component to our clients’ specific needs, while ensuring compliance with 49 CFR Part 40.

Programs include:

Programs for All Transportation Modes

Customized Written Policy

The written policy sets the tone of the drug and alcohol program, outlining the responsibilities of the employer and ach employee.  It details the components of the program, including prohibited conduct, types and circumstances of testing, consequences for violations, and employee assistance resources.

Compliance Resources will develop a new policy or review and update your existing policy to ensure compliance with federal regulations and state/local laws affecting drug and alcohol testing.  Either format will guarantee a customized policy to fit into your work environment, encompassing other established company policies for uniformity and continuity of policy content, while keeping in line with rules and regulations.

Driver Education and/or Employee Education

Compliance Resources will train and educate drivers and employees about the written policy and DOT regulations (if applicable), the effects of substance and alcohol abuse, employee rights and responsibilities, consequences of program violation, and resources available to them through the company and the community if they need help.  Compliance Resources believes that effective and up-to-date training is vital to the success of your drug and alcohol testing program.  Employees who are informed and trained take their responsibilities seriously and have more faith in the program.

Supervisor Training

Compliance Resources will train your supervisors to understand your written policy and the program requirements, including their responsibilities as a drug and alcohol testing program supervisor.  The interactive sessions include real-world situations and scenarios, team building exercises, confidence-building resources to recognize, document and confront a possible substance abuse/alcohol problem.  Training will include the effects and consequences of drug and alcohol abuse as it affects safety and the workplace.  Signs and symptoms (behavior/performance indicators) will be reviewed and brought into the scenario workshops to determine proper, effective, and consistent ways of handling these situations.

Employee Assistance Plan/Program

An employer needs to identify a plan of action and the applicable resources for employees who seek help voluntarily, are referred by management for a possible substance and/or alcohol problem, or have a positive drug/alcohol result in which a second chance is part of your program.  Compliance Resources will assist you in developing the appropriate level of employee assistance based on state laws, company policies and benefits packages, and drug free safety/workplace program requirements as applicable.

Drug and Alcohol Testing

Compliance Resources is experienced in the different methods of testing (urine, saliva, sweat patch, hair, instant (point of collection), the different drug testing panels (DOT vs. non-DOT), adulterant testing, and cut-off levels currently mandated and those proposed for changes to federal testing.  We will work with you to develop a panel that will comply with federal regulations, state and local laws and programs, and/or project-specific requirements.  Education of program administrators is key to developing an effective and appropriate testing panel for your specific industry and work environment.  Lisa Morrison-Bowles has extensive knowledge in drug classification and drug testing panels to assist you with your needs.

Compliance Resources will develop a testing program that works for you.  Whether you need a comprehensive program manager to set up collection facilities nationwide, receive and report all test results and manage your statistical reporting, or to arrange for onsite collections at your facility, Compliance Resources will work with you to determine the most cost-effective and time-efficient program for your company.

Consortium Packages and Random Testing Programs

Compliance Resources will register your employees in a pool with many other safety sensitive employees, managed in accordance with federal requirements under 49 CFR Part 40, or you may select to have an individual random testing pool specific to your employees only.  Compliance Resources will assist you in determining which program is more cost-effective and appropriate for your policy and company needs.

Drug and Alcohol Program Management

Compliance Resources uses state-of-the-art software to manage your substance abuse testing program.  Features include multi-faceted substance abuse panels, customized reporting capabilities, and client-specific documentation reports for audit preparation.  Reports can be sent via email, fax, or confidential U.S. Mail, whichever you prefer.

Nationwide Collection Site Management

Compliance Resources will coordinate and oversee the drug collections and alcohol testing performed by sites within our network and manage any issues or problems.  We offer convenient, one-stop service invoicing, so you will receive one invoice for all drug and alcohol testing services, including collection, testing, Medical Review Officer service and management.  Our resources include clinics and collection sites throughout the country who are certified and trained to provide both Federal and Non-federal collections and testing.

MIS Reporting: DOT Required Management Information System Report

Each DOT mode requires some level of MIS reporting, whether it be annual or by request from the specific mode.  Either way, you want to be prepared to provide the reporting when necessary, and Compliance Resources can assist you in the preparation of these reports by using the data collected in our computer system, the data provided by the testing laboratory, and your drug and alcohol testing records to compile and complete the required reporting.
